Our Top 5 Must-Play Games Dropping This Month!

Grab your snacks and settle in because it’s time to dive into some of our favourites releases of February 2024! As the new year gains momentum, so do the incredible games hitting the shelves.

Here are our top 5 picks to add to your gaming radar:

5. Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash:

First up there is a treat for our anime fans because Jujutsu Kaisen will be getting its very first game. The game has clearly taken a note from the Naruto Ninja Storm games with both the art and battle style feeling very similar. It’s unclear whether it will have a relevant story but game appears to be more purely focused on being a battle game. However it can be expected that the game will provide us with the typical Jujutsu Kaisen feel that the anime gives us.

The game provides a complex and immersive battle system that will have 2 versus 2 fights where you will have to use you characters potential to the fullest. Learn how to fight with each characters unique techniques and features to overcome you enemy’s. You will have to learn how to properly manage your cursed energy while maintaining a balance between powerful attacks and building up cursed energy. Many different strategies will be at you disposal and each enemy requiring different ones in order to be defeated.

4. Skull and Bones:

This long waited Pirate RPG is finally getting released roughly 8 years after Ubisoft revealed the game in 2017. Before the games launch there will be an open beta from February 8-11 where players can get a head start and get exclusive content for the game. Any progress made in Beta will also carry over when the game is officially launched and afterwards players can expect a full year of post launch content. The gameplay itself will take place mostly at sea where you will engage in naval combat as the captain of your ship. Your ship will be very customizable so you can create your ideal pirate ship aesthetic. How you customize the ship will also impact how good the ship will be in naval combat and what kind of strategies you will need to use.

Players can choose between playing with up to 2 others or going it alone. There will be also time spent on land where you will collect contracts, restore your strength and prepare for your pirate voyages. As you sail and plunder the high seas and make your way through this dangerous world you will experience many adventures, meet famous pirates and collect riches as you compete with other pirates to become the pirate kingpin. Aside from this there is no real goal or storyline. Instead your experiences as you climb up to the echelons of pirate power and fame are the story.

After all this time of waiting the hype for this game has only grown which and has left everyone with very high expectations for it. Let’s just hope the game can live up to the hype!

3. Mario vs Dockey Kong:

Once again Nintendo has decided to grace us with another adventure with Mario! This time Donkey Kong has been up to no good once again by deciding to steal all the mini Mario toys from the toy factory. It is now Marios job to take back the mini toys of himself for which he will have to travel through 8 maps with the typical side scrolling gameplay and platforming puzzle layout. These puzzles will have to be solved in order access the keys that will allow you to go on to the next map.

Every level will require you figure out the mechanisms to unlock the path to the exit and to catch a flying key at the end of each map which will push you to the limits of you platforming prowess. The game takes some abilities from previous games such as being able to throw your enemies and using the hammer weapon but sadly there are no fire flowers or superstars to assist Mario this time. The game will also feature co-op mode so be ready so you can play with your friends.

2. Nightingale:

Nightingale has sparked great excitement because the developer is Inflexion which is made up of a dream team of  Game developing veterans from industry giants such as Bioware, Ubisoft and Capcom. The game premise is entirely unique, taking place in a alternate timeline where our timeline’s 18th century industrial revolution meets magic and steampunk. All of this comes in a lovely Victorian styled package adorned with the typical top hats. In this world humanity has learned magic from the fantasy creatures called the Fae and has resulted in humanity being able to create portal between different realms.

However the system of portals collapses and leaves you stranded in the Fae realms. You must then find your way back to the city of nightingale to discover and defeat the source of the problem called “the pale”. To do this you will have to traverse many different realms filled with strange creatures and mysteries as you fight your way back. The fighting will consist mainly of melee and shooter style combat. However the game will also require you to craft things with its intricate crafting system with which you can create anything from shelter to weapons and cooking delicious meals.

1. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth:

The story picks up where the Final fantasy 7 remake game left off with our heroes having thwarted sephiroth’s plans and setting out into a whole new world filled with new types on environments and adventures. This time the game is opting for a much more open world type of experience as opposed to the more linear story line of its predecessor. One of the most impressive aspects of the game is its size with just the main story line taking 40 hours to complete but if you play all the additional content you will get more than a 100 hours of fantastical gameplay. The game will also likely surprise us with deviations from the original story line making this an entirely fresh experience even for the long time Final Fantasy fans.

This game is sure to awaken some nostalgia in fans for the 2005 movie Fantasy 7: Advent Children and the 2020 Final fantasy Remake game. Speaking of which, it looks like Square Enix is taking full advantage of this and taking us on the nostalgia train because the company is gracing theatres with the Fantasy 7: Advent Children movie (extended directors cut). Be sure to keep an eye out because the movie will be shown only on February 21st and 22nd in a few select theatres. Hopefully this will help satisfy our Final fantasy fanatics until the release of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth game.
