MSI Claw

The MSI claw is represents the latest and greatest in handheld gaming technology. Notably because it hosts Intel Core Ultra processors and Intel XeSS technology which even brings advanced AI into the mix to optimize the gaming experience. It features a 7 inch FHD touchscreen display with an 120Hz refresh rate. This juicy hardware is kept nice and cool by allowing for good airflow and utilizing MSI Cooler Boost Hyper flow technology. These features may sound too much for such a little device but the battery will still give you 2 hours of gaming under maximum workload.

As for the design it appears that MSI has gone for a sleek and ergonomic design that will fit into most hands while still giving that edgy gamer look. The device will only come in black with customizable RGB lighting around the analog sticks and its interface will be perfectly tailored to the handheld experience with the MSI center M. The excellent design and performance of this portable gaming marvel is sure to give the likes of the Steam deck and the ROG ally a run for their money. The MSI claw is set to be released the first half of 2024.

ROG Phone 8 and 8 PRO

Asus has returned with another addition to its gamer phone series, namely, the ROG phone 8 and it’s pro edition. The phone is also lighter and thinner than its predecessors with dimensions of 163.8×76.8×8.9mm or 6.45 by 3.02 by 0.35 inches and weighing only 225 grams (7.94 ounce). The  Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is what gives this phone its beastly power which is kept cool by its Rapid-Cooling Conductor design. To keep your gaming experience even more nice and chilly Asus offers the AeroActive Cooler X which can attached on the back and maximizes airflow around the back of the phone where the heat of the processor is conducted towards.

The Phone 8 comes with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage while it’s Pro edition has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The display has a 120Hz refresh rate and can be set up to 165Hz while also having 720Hz touch sampling rate which is perfect for gamers who like to play fast paced games that require high responsiveness. They are also tough enough to survive dust and water with a IP68 rating and Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covering the 17.32cm (6.78-inch) FHD display. This display has 2400×1080 pixels and can go up to an incredible 2500 nits.

Both phones come with an 5,500mAh battery which can be charged both with or without a wire at high speed in under 40 minutes. The camara may not equal the likes of Samsung and Apple flagship phones but still fairs well with a 50MP main shooter and a 32MP front-facing camera with a viewing field 90-degrees. Asus says the cameras are “Pro-level AI cameras” with 2x lossless zoom and highly stable images.

The color options are “Rebel Gray” and “Phantom Black” with the pro edition having an arguably sleeker and edgy design thanks to its texture and customizable mini-LED’s while the non pro edition has 4 customizable RGB lights. The phones arrive with a phone case and fun interactive packaging which is used when setting up your phone. If you wish to have the AeroActive Cooler X then you need to buy it separately. While this phone may still succeed more in being a gaming device than trying to be a typical flagship phone, the phone can still appeal to the average smart phone user.

ROG Zephyrus

Next up we have the ASUS ROG laptop series which have gotten a major makeover. Both of these laptops are even slimmer and lighter than their predecessors while simultaneously packing a bigger hardware punch. The G14 has a 3K OLED Nebula display and comes with a refresh rate of 120Hz/0.2. The CPU can be configured to be up to an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS and the GPU can be configured to be up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070. This laptop is exceedingly compact with a thickness of 1.59cm (0.64 inches) and weighing only 1.5kg (3.31 pounds), making it perfect for light gaming on the go.

The G16 comes with ROG 2.5K OLED nebula display and tops out at 240Hz/0.2ms. The CPU will be configured up to Core Ultra 9 185H which promises high performance which will be boosted by the core which will have a neural processing unit that allows for large amounts of automated tasks. As for the GPU, it will be configured up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 which promises strong graphics performance. This laptop is of course a bit bigger than its G14 counterpart by coming in with a thickness of 1.64cm (0.69 inches) and with a weight of 1.95kg (4.3 pounds). However this increase in size is compensated by its relatively beastly power.

Both laptops sport cool design features such as slick aluminum chassis with a customizable diagonal LED line that you change to whichever pattern or color you want. The keyboard will also be customizable with either an all-white lighting or one-zone RBG backlighting. The trackpad and keyboard have been sized up for both laptops and have new fast charging ports. The colors black and silver will be available for both laptops and both will run on Windows 11. The laptops are set to be released this quarter of 2024.

Wrapping up our journey into the future of gaming, the tech revelations from Asus and MSI at CES have left us in awe. The gaming industry is at the brink of a revolution, and these portable wonders are paving the way for an unparalleled gaming experience.
